Known as the Las Vegas of Asia, it doesn’t come as a surprise that the prices in Macao (a.k.a Macau) are soaring high. The city is infamous for casinos, expensive watches and haute couture! Finding a decent hotel can eat up your entire trip’s budget, unless you’re ready to shell out a lot of cash.
AirBnb has always been my go-to website for accommodation whenever I’m out of options for hotels. Booking a hotel in Macao was out of the question since the average price during my time of travel (July 2016) was approx. £70 a night. This was somewhat similar to the prices in London! I did find a handful of cheap ones but it didn’t seem ‘decent’ enough for a female solo traveller or for young couples for that matter.
Luckily, I found a 1 bedroom in a Condo at the heart of Macao. One Central Residences is short walk to the landmarks and convenience stores with a bonus of amazing views, it wasn’t difficult to fall in love with Inaki’s place. In fact, luxury stores like LV and Dior were just below the building. Despite living with the wonderful hosts, the house would feel like its entirely yours. 100% privacy and the best part is, all the amenities for unit owners were made available to guests.
The facilities are all listed in here, if that’s not better than most hotels then I don’t know what is!
Honestly, I feel like the pictures do not do any justice for how the place actually looked like. P.S. If you’re going to be staying Macao, you would want to save every penny so the free drinkable water will come very handy. It might be the only city that lives on the quote “drink beer, save water” 😛 (Beer = $4 MOP, Water bottle = $9-$14!)
So how much did it cost? £367 for 8 nights including AirBnb’s service fee and you can live like a queen/king! And if you’re travelling with someone, that’s even better for only £183 each!
