There’s only one word to describe this picture. Surreal. The water, the sky, the mountains…the world is indeed a beautiful place. You must be wondering where this heavenly paradise is, it’s none other than the James Bond Island, in the south of Phuket, Thailand.
Did you know that Phuket is Thailand’s wealthiest province? Despite being devastated by the tsunami in 2004, the beauty of this place has hardly diminished. The island is as divine as it once was.
Can you imagine all the magnificent things you can find in Phuket’s beaches?
Like the pearls from the oceans of Phuket.
Phuket Pearl Shop is literally the oldest pearl shop in the island. They take pride in their own pearl farm where 100,000 oysters are bred annually and 50,000 of pearl jewelries are designed by the skilled local workers. This means that they are handmade, carefully putting together each pearl to create a masterpiece. This also plays a major role in the economy of Phuket since the Phuket Pearl Group hires local workers to give them a chance to show their talents in their own country.
They have also designed beauty contest crowns that have been used internationally such as Miss Switzerland 2013’s breathtaking crown.
Their designs not only symbolize nobility but they also maintain the authenticity of the pearl gem ranging from 3000 Baht but don’t be shocked to find one for a staggering 150,000 Baht.
Phuket Pearl Shop also offers advice on how to spot a genuine pearl from the fake ones that are sprawling in the market, they believe that you should know where you’re investing your money in.
One of the things to look out for is the natural flaws of a pearl. Since it is created through a natural process, do not expect the gem to have a perfect shape. Feel the surface of it and if it’s too smooth and silky, then it might be too good to be true.
What’s the difference between sea pearls and river pearls?
The latter takes shorter time to produce and can give out about 50 pearls at once where as the sea oysters can only produce one at a time. Watch out for some sellers who may fool you into buying river pearls, know that they aren’t as valuable as a sea pearl may be.
I suggest questioning the seller first before buying one, a pearl after all, is a true treasure. Pearls are also known to be the “gem of the planet moon”. Women consider them to be a symbol of beauty and elegance and they are no doubt, sophisticated gems.
The Phuket Pearl Farm is where the pearls are harvested by trying different experiments and successfully using advanced pearl-making technique to bring out the best gems. It is then produced in the Phuket Farm Factory with a fully integrated production process, designing the pearls that are then displayed at the retail shops for the world to see. They have also collaborated with universities to research on pearl cultivation. As a result, they managed to harvest the rare and beautiful cultured round pearl.
In their shop, you can expect to see some of the world’s most beautiful pearls. From Mabe Pearls to even the famous South Sea Pearls.
Akoya, the luxury pearl
The Phuket Pearl group is a family run business that has been growing since 1967! They consist of the pearl farm, pearl factory and of course, the pearl shop. The shop is located in central Phuket while the farm is 15 minutes away from the east coast which will all be included in the hotel farm tour.
What’s more is that they offer a free shuttle ride to their pearl shop, all you have to do is book online and enjoy the tour!
No wonder James Bond chose Phang Nga Bay as his hideaway. What a perfect place to enjoy the luxury of life. Phuket is indeed a blessed place.
